Flow & Grow Family Yoga

Flow & Grow Family Yoga is yoga for you and your child. Another way to describe it would be to call it parent-child-yoga – although that’s more of a mouthful to say!

Whatever the name, it is a joyful way for parents or significant caregivers to (re-)connect with their children on a one-to-one basis. The focus is solely on the parent-child-couple: no phone calls, no siblings. This allows the adult to spend true quality time with their child, giving them the gift of their full presence and undivided attention.

“Connection is why we’re here. We are hardwired to connect with others, it’s what gives purpose and meaning to our lives, and without it there is suffering.” (Brené Brown)

It’s easy to cuddle a two-year-old and roughhouse with a four-year-old. But once children enter primary school, life seems to be getting busier and busier! Between work, school, the house, and our various hobbies, it’s easy to forget to stop, take a breath, and truly connect with those that matter most in our lives.

Moving through the daily schedule, we hurry and worry and slowly but surely disconnect from our children as well as from ourselves. Yet our eight-year-old still needs to roughhouse, and our ten-year-old still needs cuddles – though she may not admit to it freely. Even teenagers still need their parents to show up and be present and love them no matter what. By the same token, parents need to feel they matter in their children’s lives, whether they are two or six or sixteen!

“When children feel securely connected to us, they learn to love themselves and to love others. … [W]e give our kids roots so they can later grow wings, and … it requires a secure bond for those roots to really sink in.” (Dr. Laura Markham)

Flow & Grow’s unique style of family yoga provides the perfect antidote to the growing disconnection parents and children may experience as they grow up. The focus is on strengthening the bond between each parent and child through play, laughter, and yoga. We do this through a combination of games, yoga partner exercises, and relaxation techniques. This enables both the parent and the child to

release anxieties and stress,

connect with themselves and each other,

strengthen their body and mind.

Best of all, most of what you learn in one of our workshops can be easily replicated at home, so the fun never has to stop!
